A Few Words from the Committee
What a wonderful evening! The past 35 years seemed to melt away. Yes,
we’re older, wiser, have lived several lifetimes since Bradwell and yet
the magic of South Shore is alive in all of us.
Seeing our friends and teachers, reliving old memories and creating new
ones reminds all of us that we were lucky to have grown up when and
where we did.
The sign of a good party is when almost everyone stays until the end.
It is also an indication that we have to work at locating the rest of
our classmates and having another reunion in the near future.
Micki
Well, it's been a month since the reunion, and my life is back to "normal", whatever that happens to be. However, the joy of the reunion
evening, being together with friends who knew me as I was and who knew what events shaped me as an adult, as well as the feelings I have
whenever I think of The South Side, Bradwell, Rainbow Beach, etc. still are very positive and fresh. It is amazing how similar we all are in our
faded memories of the comfort of growing up in South Shore. We south siders feel almost a spiritual connection in our past. I have met many
south siders during the years, and although many of these people older or younger, we related quickly and felt the same about our childhood.
It was so much fun to see everyone, and I found it amazing that I did not even have the time to speak to everyone who was there. I also found
myself doing a lot of quiet thinking, just being with old friends, not needing to talk all of the time, but just feeling good about being with each
other.
Life does go on. I know how hard it is to keep in touch with our close family and friends, let alone everyone who has ever touched our lives. I
do hope though, that through the website and email and perhaps some informal get togethers that we can all stay connected. I'm up for a very
informal pool party with families at my house next summer for anyone in the area. I'll have Al post something on the website in Spring.
Again, a special thanks to Al and Linda Sanowskis and Rena Barnard Moran for helping to bring it all together. Here's wishing everyone and
their families a very healthy and happy Thanksgiving.
